How Candice Can Help

Evidence-based psychological support for adolescents, young adults, and their families on the Sunshine Coast.

Every person who walks through the door brings their own story. Sessions are tailored to the individual — drawing on a range of evidence-based approaches to suit what works best for each person.

Support for teens navigating a complex world

Adolescent Psychology

The teenage years can be an intense and confusing time. Adolescents often face pressure from school, peers, family, and social media — all while trying to figure out who they are. Sessions aim to offer a calm, non-judgmental space to explore what's going on beneath the surface.

Sessions draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based approaches, adapted with the aim of suiting each young person.

Areas covered

  • Anxiety and worry
  • Low mood and depression
  • Identity and self-esteem
  • School stress and academic pressure
  • Social difficulties and peer relationships
  • Emotion regulation

Navigating adulthood

Adult Support

Adulthood brings enormous change — university, work, relationships, independence. It can feel exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Support is available for adults building resilience, working toward a life they feel good about, experiencing challenges, developing tolerance and acceptance of what cannot be changed, or processing grief.

Drawing on ACT, CBT, and schema-informed approaches with the aim of helping adults build on existing insights, resilience, and a clearer sense of direction.

Areas covered

  • Life transitions and uncertainty
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Low self-worth
  • Study and work pressures
  • Identity and purpose

Strengthening family connection

Family Support

When a young person is struggling, the whole family feels it. Family sessions aim to support communication, help family members understand each other's perspectives, and work toward a more connected home environment.

A systemic, strengths-based approach that aims to draw on the family's own resources and capacity, working toward change together.

Areas covered

  • Parent-teen conflict
  • Communication breakdowns
  • Supporting a young person with mental health challenges
  • Family transitions (separation, blended families)
  • Parenting strategies for adolescents

Clarity, insight, and tailored therapeutic support

Assessment & Therapies

Psychological assessments provide a clearer picture of how a young person thinks, learns, and processes the world. Alongside assessment, a range of evidence-based and creative therapies are offered — tailored to suit each individual.

Assessments are conducted over multiple sessions with detailed written reports. Therapy is matched to the individual — drawing on evidence-based modalities and more creative approaches where these best suit the client.

Areas covered

  • Learning difficulties and academic concerns
  • Attention and concentration (ADHD)
  • Cognitive assessments
  • CBT, DBT, ACT, Schema and Narrative therapies
  • Creative approaches including sand tray therapy

The Approach

Sessions are grounded in evidence-based practice and shaped around each individual. There is no one-size-fits-all approach here — the focus is always on what is most helpful for the person in the room.
